Hanoi Travel Essentials

Few capital cities embody the old world romance of Hanoi with its picturesque lakes, tree-lined boulevards and charming Old Quarter. Its enviable location along northern Vietnam’s Red River attracted both the Chinese and the French, resulting in a rich intermingling of cultures. Beyond its motorbike-filled streets, Hanoi serves as a gateway to breath-taking natural wonders further afield.

Best time to visit
Travellers should opt to visit Hanoi during its summer months from mid-September until the end of November. The months between February and April are also an ideal time to visit as spring presents hot and clear days with occasional rainfall. Hanoi in summer, from May until August, gets very hot with a lot of rain. Between January and February, it can get very cold due to chilly winds, lack of humidity and proper building insulation.
